Exploration of key moments in Korean history, through philosophy, poetry, religion, art, trade,, family, government, and material culture. Focus on, four periods: Korea's interactions with China in, the early years of its development and its, influence, the Choson dynasty's cultural and, political developments during its six-century, reign, Japan's annexation, and the country's, national and international history in the 20th and, 21st centuries. Aside from the textbook, reading, will be in primary sources: documents, objects, poems, legal statues, etc., produced by elite, Koreans (and ordinary people when possible).
