Survey of an American cinematic genre. Each, semester traces how the genre develops, its, intersection with cultural trends/anxieties/fears;, and how it can be understood thematically,, formally, ideologically, and from a variety of, critical perspectives in media studies, from, industry studies to fandoms. Historical survey of, American films across time and across sub-genres., Students will perform their own original research, into international traditions.
